Centre for Panchayati Raj, Decentralised Planning and Social Service Delivery

Centre's Mandate

Vision:

Strengthening democracy at grassroot level to attain decentralised and participatory Local Self- Government through Capacity Building and Training of various stakeholders of Panchayati Raj Institutions.

Mission:

Building capacities of Panchayati Raj Institutions and critical stakeholders in all three tiers, for Empowerment, Enablement and Accountability of PRIs to ensure inclusive development with people’s participation to attain social justice and effective delivery of people-centric services.

Objectives

  1. Conceptualise, design and organise Capacity Building and Training for the stakeholders of Local Self Government and organizations associated with local Governance and Rural Development.
  2. Conduct Research and Action Research relating to Panchayati Raj, Decentralised Planning and Social Service Delivery.
  3. Organise and facilitate Regional, National and International Workshops, Seminars, Conferences etc. pertaining to Local Governance and Rural Development.
  4. Provide Consultancy Services in the areas pertaining to Local Self Governance, Decentralised Planning and Implementation.
  5. Policy Advocacy in the field of Panchayati Raj Governance and Rural Development.
  6. Enabling the Government mechanism for effective Programme Implementation and efficient delivery of services.
  7. Collaborate with national and international organizations for Research, Action Research and Training programmes.

  11. Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996 (PESA)
  12. Panchayat Governance in 6th Schedule Areas
